Installations - Voice
Alarms
Eastfield Technical Services can design, install,
supply, commission, repair and maintain voice alarm with
full back up from the manufacturers of the voice alarm equipment.
Voice alarms have one central control panel (rack) from
which fire microphone stations can be positioned in different
parts of the building

Past Projects
An example of where we installed a
Baldwin Boxal Voice evacuation rack system, which
included Public Address, voice alarm and background
music system.
This was installed in the late
1990s and has only be recently replaced.

Pre-recorded messages in electronic modules
in the main rack can be activated in a fire or emergency
situation from the buildings fire
alarm system or in the reception office via emergency
button or panic alarm. These electronic message modules
have total priority over the system being used in any other
manner ie: public announcements
or background music.
The cabling of a voice alarm system from the
rack to the speakers around the building will be wired in
fire-proof cable. Each room or area will have two speakers
wired on A and B circuits fed from the main rack on separate
cabling systems with separate amplifiers. This is to cover
electronic failure of an amplifier in a zone, or cable damage,
or speaker failure; still enabling coverage of all areas.
All speakers will have fire-domes fitted as to the BS standard
BS5839-9.
All circuits, including fire microphone stations,
electronic amplifiers, A and B speaker circuits per zone
are all fully monitored and any breakdown in the circuits
will result in audio-tone and visual warning on the rack
of problem needing rectification.
All panels will carry full battery back-up
to allow the systems to remain active, without mains power,
for eight hours and then go into an alarm situation which
will subsequently allow it to be re-set back into standby.
